A Pediatric Board Forum by PBR – Join the PBR Facebook CREW!

WHAT IS THE PEDIATRICS BOARD REVIEW FACEBOOK CREW?

Screenshot of the Pediatrics Board Review Facebook group settings, with an arrow pointing to the All Posts notification option. It's a pediatric board review forum, but it's through Facebook! Pediatrics Board Review has created a Facebook Page as well as a Facebook Group. There are two primary differences between these. The page can be liked by anyone and posts can be seen by anyone. PBR's Facebook Group is a forum area for the PBR community to get together and ask each other questions about the board exam, pediatrics, and the content in the PBR study guides. If you have an active PBR membership, you can join the CREW! All posts are strictly private and can only be seen by other PBR members of the group.

WHY WAS THE GROUP CREATED?

Failed Pediatric BoardsWE ARE TOO ISOLATED AND DEPRESSED!

Studying for the American Board of Pediatrics initial certification exam can be a daunting experience and can make a person EXTREMELY lonely. Especially for the many pediatricians who have previously failed, because they can no longer meet up with their old residency friends at a coffee shop to study.

I've chosen Facebook as a platform to increase interaction amongst a group of individuals with the same goal in mind because Facebook is here to stay, and it's FUN!

Being able to interact with others through social media makes it a little more tolerable, maybe even a little enjoyable.

PBR - Group CollaborationLastly, I wanted to create a private, invite-only area for pediatricians to share their ideas, struggles, resources, and QUESTIONS. It's a safe and secure environment for docs studying with one common goal in mind: PASSING THE AMERICAN BOARD OF PEDIATRICS EXAM!

So, the next time you're on Facebook and you're done checking your personal newsfeed, head over to PBR's Facebook Group and soak up a little bit of knowledge, ask a question, or help a brotha' (or sista') out!

WHO CAN JOIN THE PBR FACEBOOK GROUP?

This group is specifically for members of the PBR community.

  • EXISTING MEMBERS: If you are an existing PBR member, all you have to do is send me an email through the contact form.
  • NON-PBR MEMBERS: If you've never purchased anything from PBR, simply purchase any PBR product and then visit the PBR’s Facebook Group and click join.

YES, THAT'S MY GORGEOUS SON!

AFTER I JOIN, HOW DO I ACCESS THE GROUP?

Once you’ve joined the group you’ll see an area labeled GROUPS on the left side of your Facebook account. Under that, you’ll see Pediatrics Board Review along with the number of new topics or conversations that have been started. Simply click there, or you can also visit the following link: https://members.pediatricsboardreview.com/facebook

WILL I GET NOTIFIED OF NEW POSTS AND INFORMATION?

NO! Not unless you make one SMALL modification to your settings!

After you are approved, it is CRUCIAL that you change your NOTIFICATION setting to ALL POSTS! The default setting will only allow you to get “popular” posts. Trust me, that is NOT what you want because many of the posts from PBR are CRITICAL but they do not qualify as “popular” posts because they don't have hundreds of likes and comments.

But you WANT to see ALL of PBR's posts and especially all of the posts from your PEERS to increase your awareness of PBR-related topics, possible PBR errors, and exam time updates!

If you ever use the group and find that it's becoming too distracting or overwhelming, then turn your notifications to OFF. But to start, you should ALWAYS have it set to ALL NOTIFICATIONS.

CAN I STAY IN THE PBR FACEBOOK GROUP FOREVER?

That's a definite MAYBE! The duration of Facebook Group membership has yet to be decided. Membership will either match your online PBR membership (typically 1 year) or end up being indefinite.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE PEDIATRIC FORUM?

Good question!

There’s no plan to remove the old forum from the PBR arsenal of tools. Some people appreciate the anonymity of the forum, so that feels like a good enough reason to leave it open. Plus, the forum allows any pediatrician around the world to jump in, ask questions about pediatrics and contribute to the conversation.

Hi Gwieneverea,

Invites are only for active PBR members. If you’re studying for the Pediatric Maintenance of Certification (MOC) exam or the Initial Certification Board Exam, PBR is a great resource to help you pass… and you’ll get access to the members’ only Facebook group.

Hope that helps,
– Ashish

Hi Gawdut. The ABP doesn’t release or retire questions. There are 200 ABP questions written for the ABP that are available, but they are for the MOC and you have to be board-certified to access them via the ABP Portfolio area.

Ashish, I am pediatric cardiologist. Just finished my training and unfortunately during the past 3 years I failed the ABP exam. This year I changed the method and heard from yours. I applied it and really felt confident about it. I passed the board! my score improved by 20 points from the previous “best” failed. Really a great job you do in simplifying things and boosting confidence to the costumers.

Thank you!
